🧭 Core 3: Ethical Veterinary Care for All Pets

Every pet deserves ethical veterinary care — for all pets, not just those whose families can afford it.

đŸŸ Putting Welfare Before Profit

Because no pet should ever be put to sleep just because their family can’t afford treatment.
Ethical care must come first — not money.

💔 The Reality Too Many Face

In today’s veterinary system, it’s not always about what’s best for the animal.
Too often, it’s about what the owner can afford.

That means real families, with real pets, are being forced to make impossible choices.
Pay thousands
 or say goodbye.

Even when a condition is treatable. Even when an animal has a good chance of recovery.

That’s not ethical care. That’s a system that’s broken.

đŸ¶ Coco’s Story

Coco was one of the lucky ones.
He was diagnosed and treated for the wrong condition and all the while his real condition, IVDD, worsened until he began to lose the use of his bag legs. We were then given the ultimatum of expensive surgery or euthanasia. But the truth was, he needed neither. His condition was treatable. We had the means to get a second opinion and pay for his care.

But what if we hadn’t?

Would he still be here?

For many families, that’s not a hypothetical question. It’s their heartbreaking reality.

This video shows Coco after IVDD recovery. With full motion back and every chance at a healthy life. But Coco wouldn’t be here today if we hadn’t been able to afford his treatment. And the truth is, he wouldn’t have even reached the surgery or euthanasia decision if he had been treated properly from the start. Financial barriers shouldn’t decide who gets a chance at life.

⚖ The Ethical Conflict

When money enters the room, ethics can quietly leave.

Some vets are under pressure. Practices are being bought out. Profit margins are squeezed.
But that doesn’t change the duty of care to the animal in front of them.

Treatable animals should not be put down because someone can’t afford a bill.
That’s not a clinical decision. That’s a financial one.
And that’s not okay.

🛠 What Needs to Change

We’re calling for a system where ethical veterinary care is the standard, not the exception.

✅ Transparent pricing from the start — so families know what they’re facing.
✅ Ethical decisions made in the best interest of the animal, not the bank account.
✅ More accessible financial support — like payment plans or welfare partnerships.
✅ Better training and support for vets in ethical decision-making, not just financial targets.

Because good care should never depend on how much you can pay.

đŸ€ Let’s Change This — Together

We know there are good vets out there.
We know many are doing their best under pressure.
But we also know the system is failing — and animals are paying the price.

It’s not just about Coco.
It’s about every pet who deserves a chance. Every family who shouldn’t have to choose between debt and death.

Let’s build a system where ethics lead the way.
Where care is based on what’s right — not what’s profitable.

Together, we can fight for ethical veterinary care for all pets.
Because their lives shouldn’t come down to money.
