Why Coco Is Not Furniture (And Other Important Life Lessons)

At Team Coco HQ, we have some very simple house rules:

Respect Coco.
Protect Coco.
Never, ever sit on Coco.

Sure, he might be soft, fluffy, and loaf-shaped…
But that does not make him a sofa, a footrest, or a convenient place to balance your coffee cup.

Coco is a living, breathing, biscuit-loving little soul — not home décor.

Coco sits on sofa. Sofa does not sit on Coco.

Confused?
Don’t worry — we’ve put together a handy guide to help you figure out what’s allowed… and what’s very much NOT.

Is It Furniture or Is It Coco? A Helpful Guide

Coco may look like a cushion, a footstool, or even a small decorative beanbag — but let’s be clear: he is not furniture. Need a reminder? Here’s a handy guide on what you can and cannot do.

Can you sit on the sofa?
YES.
🚫 Can you sit on Coco?
NO. Even if he looks extra squishy.

Can you drape a blanket over the back of a chair?
SURE.
🚫 Can you drape a blanket over Coco and call him ‘decoration’?
NO (even if he does look adorable).

Can you put your coffee cup on a table?
YES (Preferably also use a coaster).
🚫 Can you balance your coffee cup on Coco while he naps?
BIG NO. (Also dangerous. Also rude.)

Can you prop your feet up on an ottoman?
YES (Unless we are talking with shoes on).
🚫 Can you prop your feet up on Coco because he’s conveniently loaf-shaped?
NO. Coco is a loaf of love, not a footrest.

Can you rest your book on the coffee table?
YES.
🚫 Can you rest your book on Coco because he’s lying very still and looks like a furry bookstand?

NO. He’s reading you with his signature side-eye — and he’s not impressed.

Can you store your clothes in a wardrobe?
YES. (It is advised and preferable to, you know, the floor).
🚫 Can you throw your jumper on Coco and call it “storage”?
NO. Coco is not a wardrobe. Coco is Coco.

Can you put a cushion on the bed?
OF COURSE.
🚫 Can you put a cushion on Coco’s head and call it “art”?
NO (even though he’d look fabulous).

Can you lounge on a beanbag?
YES.
🚫 Can you lounge against Coco because he’s so soft and conveniently placed?
NO. Hugging Coco is encouraged. Leaning on him like a beanbag is not.

Can you rearrange furniture to suit your aesthetic?
GO FOR IT.
🚫 Can you try to rearrange Coco?
NO. Coco rearranges himself as he sees fit. Coco is not your Feng Shui.

But here’s the serious bit…

Coco is not furniture.
Coco is not “property.”
Coco is family.

Right now, under the law, pets like Coco are treated the same way as a sofa, a chair, or a table — just another possession.
If something happens to them because of someone else’s actions — even serious injury or worse — it’s often treated as property damage, no different than if someone broke your TV.

That isn’t good enough.
Not for Coco, and not for any beloved pet who is loved, trusted, and part of the family.

Coco’s Campaign is all about changing that.
Protecting pets, respecting the deep bond they share with their families, and making sure the law sees them for what they truly are — living beings with their own value, their own rights, and their own dignity.

Coco may give you side eye like a pro…
But on this, he’s dead serious.

He is NOT furniture.
He is family.
And he deserves protection — just like yours does.

Because the more people who laugh and learn, the better. Help spread the message: pets are not furniture, décor, or background props. They’re loved ones.

One floof can’t change the world alone.
But Coco’s got friends.
And we’ve got sass, heart, and purpose.
Let’s raise some tails and raise our voices.
🐾

A message from Coco:

Hey. It’s me.
Coco.
The one you’re not allowed to sit on.

Listen… I know we had a good laugh about sofas and chairs and stuff.
But here’s the thing: I’m not furniture.

I’m not a thing you buy and sell.
I’m not something you replace if it gets scratched.
I’m not a piece of property.
I’m family.

But right now?
In the eyes of the law?
I’m basically treated like a chair with fur.
(And let’s be real — I’m way cuter than any chair.)

If something bad happens to me because of someone else — like when vets mess up or when someone hurts a pet — it’s just treated like property damage.
Like breaking a lamp.
That’s not right.

That’s why I’m campaigning.
For better laws.
For better protections.
For respect — for me, and for every pet like me.

I’m not a living room accessory.
I’m not furniture.
I’m Coco.
And I deserve better.

Thanks for listening,
Thanks for caring,
And thanks for being part of #TeamCoco 🐾❤️

Team Coco: Justice. Joy. Biscuits.

Final Word from Team Coco:

Coco is not a chair. Coco is not a table.
Coco is a living soul, a beloved friend, and the very heart of this campaign.
Respect the loaf. Honour the side-eye. Treasure the biscuit thief.
